Cozy Shelter privacy policy

A room of your own

Shelter has no account, advertising, analytics, tracking, or microphone access. Its artwork and sound recordings are bundled with the app. The sounds are an atmosphere shaped by weather data, not a live microphone feed from a place.

What stays on your device

Room settings, saved arrangements, chosen places and their optional personal labels, weather and forecast caches, notification preferences, and the optional Things seen history are stored on your device. Widgets use a cache shared locally with the app. Shelter does not upload these records to a Shelter server.

Device motion can gently move the scenery while the app is in use. Shelter does not retain or transmit motion readings. Reduce Motion disables this effect.

Weather and maps

Choosing a place, opening the place picker, and refreshing weather or forecasts can send coordinates of chosen or featured places to Apple. Forecast refresh can also happen in the background for saved places. Map requests and place-name lookups use Apple services. Personal labels such as “Mum” are not included in weather requests.

Shelter does not request your device’s location. Coordinates come from places you select or from its featured-place catalogue. Apple processes requests under its privacy policy. Weather data sources are linked inside the app.

Choose Your own weather to listen without needing a connection. Saved-place widgets and enabled forecast notes can still refresh when a connection is available. Weather and map services require a connection; bundled sound does not.

Notes, sharing, and your choices

Rain and sunrise notes are local notifications scheduled from a forecast, with your permission. You can turn notes off for a place or disable Shelter notifications in iOS Settings.

Share this moment creates an image for the iOS share sheet. You choose whether and where to send it; the image can include a place’s personal label. Your chosen destination handles the shared image under its own policies.

You can remove custom places in the app. Turning off Remember things seen clears that history. Deleting Shelter removes its app-local data; backups and restoration are controlled by your Apple device and backup settings.
